Edward Bass Aims for Commercial Success With His New Films

Carving his niche in the movie industry as an Independent film producer with both a taste for cinematic artistry and a wide audience appeal, Producer Edward Bass is lining up a few films for 2011 that just might exceed his enviable reputation in the industry for producing 5 major independent films in two years time.

Highly anticipated since it was announced as early as 2009, the film is a dramatic biopic-thriller about the most notorious lady serial killer in America, a Norwegian immigrant Belle Gunness who allegedly killed more than 40 (same say up to 100) people between 1900 and 1908 in La Porte, Indiana. Still in its pre-production phase, the film will be the directorial debut for Producer Edward Bass and has attracted a number of stars eager to play the lead role, including Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger who is a Norwegian herself.

Other Forthcoming Films

Edward Bass is also set to be the executive producer for “Chlorine,” about a family’s struggle to maintain their upscale lifestyle in New England. This is another Jay Alamo direction with Vincent D’Onofrio, Kyra Sedgwick and Tom Sizemore in the lead. He is also slated to produce “The Hunt,” about the struggles of three sexually trafficked women wanted for a murder committed in self defense and hunted down across an unforgiving desert stretch of the American-Mexican border. The film will be helmed by Jeremy Workman with yet unannounced player list and be co-produced with Michael Mailer. Other films include “Ponzi” about one of the most notorious swindlers in the modern America, and “The Hill Christ Climbed: The Gridiron Heroes Story” a documentary with Will Smith as narrator.irst Line Entertainment Media have produced what many movies buffs considers as artistic Indie films with a commercial appeal.

His exposure to the entertainment world started early when his family arranged backstage encounters with celebrities like Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte and Milton Berle during their visits to Las Vegas. He later managed Berle’s acts and went on to manage middleweight boxer Julio Chavez who became the highest prized super middleweight fighter under him. Director Edward Bass also produced musicals such as Bob Hope Day, Great Moments on Stage, and the musical “Stardust,” that featured Toni Tenille along with Tony winner Hinton Battle. He also pioneered in the support for AIDS when he orchestrated the public support of the late President Ronald Reagan in AIDS research which was headline news that pushed the Iran-Contra scandal at that time. He also founded a modeling agency in Paris and engaged in publishing the Metropolitan Magazine that circulated hundreds of his political commentary worldwide.

With such a wealth of experience, the highly insightful Director Edward Bass is a wellspring that has given his cinematic materials a rich tapestry seldom seen in mainstream Hollywood hits. His Vision Awards as Producer of the Year and the Circle of Excellence in 2007 are testament to the man’s unfolding genius.
